My grief is unconsolable.... our loss is unimaginable.....each day I wake to the news of this tragedy and hold my wife and children a little closer, and cry a little harder. If by communicating the depth of my pain I could somehow lessen yours I would gladly write a book. There will be time for justice.... but for now.... know that all of you, and all of the lost are every in my thoughts and prayers. Deepest sympathies,

Heartfelt tears Are shared by a nation In support of our wounded heartland.
The bomb cannot destroy that proud strong beat of the heartland.
But all those wonderful children and sturdy citizens in twisted rubble.
Makes me wonder what possible reason could there be? For men to cause such pain on innocents.

	    		-Pete Farr Whidbey Island, Washington

To all of the families and friends who have been victimized by this horrendous event...you are not forgotten, you are not alone. You and your loved ones reside in our hearts and are in our thoughts and prayers constantly. Love, caring, humanity, and peace are still in control of this great nation. We can not and will not let a few radicals destroy our strength and concern. With love,

-Polly Bennett Wissing Fort Collins, Colorado

You were the land of my childhood,
and I know what it is like
to watch the wind whip the red dirt
on a summer's afternoon,
in this city of hills
and homes
and warm hearts.
Now red dirt is reddened
with the blood of the innocent
and the tears of the bereft,
and the aching evil guilt
of men who build
an unreal reality
that can slaughter children
for the idealistic nightmare
they call their philosophy.
I offer you the flowers of
my heart,
the tears of my eyes,
the prayers of my spirit.
May justice be done,
and anger find its way
far away from your heart.

	    		-Wanda Evans

people of OKC: I am very sorry that this tragedy happened. It wasn't right. It wasn't fair. It truly was evil. I can't say all of the fancy things that our leaders have already. Certainly not with as much finesse. But i do hope that you can see what has been so clearly demonstrated to all of us in the rest of the world. In our country, when something this horrible happened, you did not stand alone in your grief. Your country and all the people in it came together to cope. For a long time to come, millions of people will praying for you, hoping with you, crying with you. Few can truly empathize with you. But we can sympathize. We can care. i care. My friends care. I hope you will be able to eventually find some peace. a friend in Delaware,

We all work together at 3M and first heard the terrible news shortly after noon on April 19 from one of our sales reps who was very affected by the "why here" of it all. We hope your succeeding days have truly been helped by the media's message that America cares in very real ways. Our prayers to everyone affected, which is many more than those in that six block area. We are all Americans in the family of people....

Please except our deepest sympathy for all the Victims and Survivors, of the bombing. Everyday we watch the news almost in tears seeing what had happened. My children (one of which her Father lives in El Reno, Okla.) ask can this happen here?, why would someone do this?, DID THEY KNOW CHILDREN WERE IN THERE? WHY? WHY? WHY? We are so sorry for you all, so very sorry. We pray that you will find a way to recover from this tragedy. MAY GOD BE WITH YOU.

Dear fellow Oklahomans,
Most of the sympathies I wanted to express have already been stated here, so I won't repeat them. Do know that I am praying for all of you affected by this terrible event.
I want you to know that I am especially proud to be from Oklahoma. The newscasters here in Philadelphia are so surprised that martial law hasn't had to dominate the city and that looting and other crimes are not rising. They also comment about the strong religious beliefs of Oklahomans and the incredible amount of support they provide for each other. Well, I'm not surprised; I am very proud of you! Although it is difficult and there is a lot of pain, keep hoping and praying. And know that the world is praying for you. Thanks to everyone for all their work and volunteerism in the aftermath of this event. With love and prayers,

-Ronna Schenk from Norman, OK but living in Swarthmore,
PA

Since the day of the tragedy, our prayers for you have not ceased. May the God of Peace and Comfort reveal Himself to you in a real way. Words simply fail us at a time like this, and we mourn with you. Our Deepest Sympathy,

There are no words to convey the sorrow I feel for what has happened to you, dear Oklahomans. But, I can only say that I share your grief. And, send you the most heartfelt love. My prayers are with you. Sincerely,

To all the grieving families of Oklahoma City,
As a fellow federal worker and someone who has also lost a child, I know your anguish is great. Perhaps it helps, if only a little, to know that many tears have been shed for you here in Colorado and around the world. Our hearts aches with yours.

	    		-Kristi Gebhart

I wanted to send you my sympathies for your great loss. It is all so tragic. The Saint Paul Public Library holds a wealth of wonderful books containing accumulated wisdom from the ages. But the staff has no words to express our sorrow for the suffering your community is bearing. You have certainly earned the respect of the world with the fortitude and courage with which you are facing this tremendous cross. We send our love and we direct our prayers to the heavens in behalf of you and those we all mourn.

	    		-Elaine Wagner

As a former Midwest City resident and current federal employee I was extremely distressed to hear of the misfortune that has come your way. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you along with thousands of others. My thoughts this past week have often returned to the song from South Pacific that says, "You've got to be taught, before it's too late, before you are six or seven or eight, to hate all the people your relatives hate, you've got to be carefully taught." I hope that this tragedy will help others to see that "hate" never solves anything. It's only through loving and caring for one another that we can make the world a better place. May the comfort you so desperately need be with you and your families at this time.

	    		-Barb, Seattle HUD office

With great remorse and sympathy, I am writing to express my anguish over the deplorable actions of terrorists on the people of the federal building, Oklahoma Citians, United States citizens, and people throughout the world. Mysteriously, all things happen for some purpose -- it is beyond me what the purpose may be for the loss of life and especially the loss of children. Perhaps it is that in tragedy we re-confirm our frailty which can be supported only by joining together as a human family to care for the survivors, the victims' friends and family, and all the dedicated resue workers.
Empathy is not forthcoming for me -- I do not know how devastating you must feel. I am sad for the pain you are enduring. I am sorry for the society we have created which includes such insane individuals as those responsible for the bombing. The need for violence and it's various outlets in a male-dominant, military-in- dustrial complex which is founded on destruction seems almost inherently necessary, yet all human beings endorse it either by tacit approval or by violent suppression. We need to take two steps back and re-educate all of us to be non-violent and to support care, love, understanding, and community with all aspects of the world village, of all human beings, of us all.
The destruction exists. The repair and rebuilding of lives will continue, perhaps for generations of those affected. All hail the human spirit which will overcome and rise above this senseless act of individual retribution meted out against the innocent. As the Phoenix rises from the ashes, so too human viability in the face of over- whelming violence. The star of goodness hangs sadly in the sky but will once again shine it's beacon of hope to all who will look and believe. I believe in you. May higher powers bless and keep you safe.

	    		-Michael Davidson

I wish there were more we could do to take the pain away...just please know that we are all praying for you, thinking of you, and supporting you.

	    		-James Bollenbacher

I extend my deepest sympathy to those who lost loved ones in the Oklahoma City bombing. Your sorrow and grief were evident as I watched the memorial service on Sunday, but so was your strength and dignity -- I was very moved by it all and continue to hope with you that at least one more life might be rescued from the ruins. The bombers picked April 19th for its significance, apparently not just for the anniversary of the Waco raid, but also to lay claim to its patriotic heritage: On this date in 1775, true patriots stood firm to set America on its path to independence at the battles of Lexington and Concord here in my native state of Massachusetts. I grew up in the town (Littleton) where lies buried the first Minuteman wounded at the bridge in Concord, who later died from that wound; I have visited his grave and the battle sites. It is impossible for me to grasp how anyone can claim this date to commit an act of terror against this nation in the name of "patriotism". The horror of April 19, 1995, however, will not stain the memory of the original Patriots Day (as it is called here); rather, those who died in Oklahoma will join in memory with those who died for America 220 years before, and the dignity of the Minuteman statues in Concord and Lexington will be increased by the strength of the survivors.

	    		-Hal Coyle, Ayer, Mass.

No amount of words, no expression of grief, can accurately display the measure of sorrow felt over the recent bombing. As a mom, I suffer the loss of all of the children. We grieve together. Please accept my words as an embrace across miles, as the support which you need right now, and as the small part of a safety net which we, as Americans, form together.

	    		-Jan Anderson

I care deeply. I am so sorry. I am thinking of you.

	    		-Marie Nations

The tragedy in your great city affects all Americans deeply. We grieve for you and with you.

	    		-Patricia Lowry

Like many other Americans, I'm horrified at what has happened to your city and citizens. We all want to support you in this time of sorrow. And yet, watching how your community is coming together in the aftermath of this tragedy is so very inspiring to me, and I'm sure to many others.

	    		-Tim Myers
